Community Wellbeing Centre - Media Release - 21st February 2019
Boandik is excited to announce that the Community Wellbeing Centre Project will commence within coming weeks. The Board of Boandik has been buoyed by the support for the project from the community and has committed funds for the $6m project. This is a higher cost than originally anticipated. We are very appreciative of the support we have received through the Community Partnership Program which is currently $205,000 and will continue to promote the program, seek grants and organise fundraising events to support the construction of the centre.
Mossop Construction and Interiors have been appointed as the Builder for the project. We look forward to working with Mossop’s to achieve a quality outcome with this build.
The architect’s, Thomson Adsett, have worked closely with Boandik staff and the team of consultants to develop a plan that will meet the needs of the community for many years to come. The plans include a hydrotherapy pool for the entire community. The pool will have 2 forms of assisted access with a ramp into the pool and lifting equipment to enable people of all abilities to experience the benefits of hydrotherapy.
The community activity spaces and gymnasium will enable expansion of programs to support people to remain independent and connected with the community as they age. Wellbeing and reablement will be a strong focus in these areas.
Boandik continues to expand our home care programs to meet the needs of clients and the new office accommodation in the centre will allow us to grow these programs. There will also be meeting rooms in the centre that can be accessed by community groups.
"Thank you for the respect and dignity you have given to our Dad, the care and support you have demonstrated to our family, for the fun and the humour created in his home and for giving our family the ability to be a whole family again."
